Although it comes with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, most reviewers say that the 2013 Buick Encore could use more power. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard, and most test drivers say that it operates smoothly. Still, one critic comments that the transmission doesn’t downshift as quickly as he’d like when more power is called for. The EPA reports that the 2013 Encore gets up to 25/33 mpg city/highway, which is better than most SUVs in the class. Although test drivers don’t consider the Buick Encore sporty, most are impressed with its composed handling and quiet, comfortable ride. One critic also notes that the Encore’s small turning circle makes for excellent maneuverability.
Reviewers say that the Encore offers an attractively designed cabin that’s built with premium materials. Despite its small size, many say that the front seats are spacious and comfortable, though some think that the back seats could be a bit more spacious. While SUVs like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 have a lot more cargo space, critics still comment that the Encore has a decent-sized cargo hold. The Encore also comes with more standard features than most affordable compact SUVs. Every Encore comes with a backup camera and Buick’s IntelliLink infotainment system, which includes a 7-inch color display, Bluetooth, satellite radio and a USB port. Options and features available on higher trims include a sunroof, forward collision and lane departure warning 2013 Buick Encore, navigation and dual-zone automatic climate control.
